Community

Community and Government support for the ongoing development of the iron ore industry is an important ingredient to its overall success in the Mid West. The Geraldton Iron Ore Alliance(GIOA) is therefore committed to building strong relationships with local communities, community and non government organisations and   ederal, State and Local Government.  

In fostering these relationships, Geraldton Iron Ore Alliance members support and promote;  

• Local purchasing and local employment preference policies  

• Working with Indigenous communities and organisations to achieve agreements respecting Indigenous culture and providing training and employment opportunities  

• A range of local community activities and organisations  

• Education, training and initiatives to assist the development of courses and facilities in the region  

• A commitment to operate in a sustainable manner   

• Responsible environmental management and operational work practices, including support for flora research  

The Alliance is an active member of the local community, having sponsored a number of key events that further the sustainable growth of the region.

Geraldton Iron Ore Alliance proudly supported the Mingenew Lions Midwest Expo for the 6th year running. The Alliance sponsored this year’s main event ‘‘Girls,Girls, Girls Horse Trick Riding WA’.
