Environment
Each Alliance member has a reputation as a responsible operator within the exploration/mining industry, achieved by working closely with indigenous groups, Government Departments, Non Government Organisations, land holders and authoritative bodies to ensure all activities meet or exceed the legal and social requirements.
In accordance with best management practice, member companies have adopted a range of policies to ensure sound environmental practice. These include:
- Implementing environmental management and quality of work standards that are maintained as strict operating procedures, regardless of the location of operations.
- Adhering to all relevant Government laws and regulations for the protection of the environment.
- Conducting exploration activities with due regard to the protection of wildlife, flora and sites of natural, cultural and historical significance.
- Ensuring that any damage to vegetation, land surface or man-made improvements that may occur as a result of the mining activities will be minimised and rehabilitated without undue delay.
All members of the Geraldton Iron Ore Alliance are committed to operating in a way that embraces the concepts of sustainability.
